July 2018: Argentina, BRICS and the mining industry, Lithium subsector at full speed, and advance in the metalliferous subsector
July was a month with important news. One of the most important was the BRIC summit at Johannesburg, where Argentina was specially invited to attend. In the summit, President Eng. Mauricio Macri showed all the potential to invest in Argentina, with a strong emphasis in natural resources, including mining industry.

Analysis: A complex international scenario and the great opportunity for the Argentine mining industry
The birth, growth and consolidation of the BRICS have an association with the mining industry. The countries that make up this bloc - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - are committed to natural resources, and mining is one of the main drivers of their transformation. These nations represent more than 40% of the population and 25% of global GDP, with a strong impact on natural resources, and mining in particular.

Strong quarterly production at Puna Operations
During the second quarter of 2018, the Puna Operations –located in Jujuy province- produced 1.0 million ounces of silver, for a total of 1.9 million ounces produced in the first half of 2018, exceeding the company’s silver production guidance of 1.6 million ounces.
